“When did you meet Henry?” Sam asked Jaku.
Jaku leaned back in his chair with a sigh, as if he were settling in. “Years ago. Before he was known as The Crocodile. When he was just a kid in love.” He punctuated the statement with an odd smirk.
A kid in love? Sam blinked rapidly, caught off guard by the notion. “Before he was known as The Crocodile?”
Jaku shrugged his shoulders. “Have you ever wondered what turns a man into a monster?”
She chewed her lip, afraid he would derail the conversation, but she allowed it. “Of course. People aren’t born bad. Something happens to them…changes them.”
“Indeed.”
“Do you know what happened to Henry?”
Jaku laughed boisterously. “I’ve no idea what happened to him.”
